Before joining forces this season on the Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry were already two of the best players in the NFL. So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that as part of the same team, the two superstar players would only elevate each other's game.
On Sunday, the Ravens became the first team in NFL history to have a 2,000-yard rusher (Henry) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Jackson) in the same season, including playoffs.
During the regular season, Henry rushed for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns while Jackson rushed for 915 yards and four touchdowns.
With 186 rushing yards in last week's wild-card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Henry had more than enough production to surpass 2,000 yards.
In Baltimore's divisional-round contest against the Buffalo Bills, Jackson gained enough yards to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark.
Henry, the 6-foot-2, 247-pound back, rushed for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2020, becoming the eighth player to run for 2,000 yards. With his 1,921 yards this season, Henry also has the 11th-best single-season total and the best second-highest total of any player in the 2,000-yard club.
In 2019, Jackson became the second quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards when he totaled 1,206, breaking Michael Vick's 1,039-yard mark from 2006.
Baltimore led the NFL in rushing this season, compiling 3,189 yards for a 5.8 yards per carry average and 21 touchdowns. At 5.8 yards per carry, they were a half-yard better than the next-best team (Arizona, 5.3).
